| Both Propeller Heads Reason and Ableton live have been around for a while with each version opening new way of creative thinking and ease of use. And the fact that they are extremely reliable and well written with great deal of thought that has gone into the design. | ||
| I have been using Propeller Heads Reason and Ableton live since they first came out and never looked back. In my opinion they are two fantastic tools and with the recent release of Ableton live 4 and it ability to use midi this has opened new door ways. | ||
| So what is this tutorial about? | ||
| I am going to show you how to use Lives midi tool e.g. Chord,Scale and map them through to reason. | ||
| Step 1: Launch Live 4 Step 2: Launch Reason Step 3:Select Reason in one of the audio tracks input type. |

Click on the dropdown box labeled audio from and select reason. |  |
| Step 4:Select the monitor button on the same track. | ||
 |

| Step 5: Next we select one of the midi tracks and map the midi out to reason. | ||
 |

Step 6: We need to add an instrument to reason and select a patch in this case i have used the Badaid from the reason factory refill. |

| Step 7: On our midi track in live, we next map the "midi to" in live to the subtractor in reason. | ||
 |

| Step 8:Now that we have mapped out instrument up to live you should hear the the subtractor playing when you hit a key on your key board. If you are not hearing anything check midi input setting in live,Also check the midi signal see pic below then check that the monitor button is selected. |

| Step 9: I all has gone well we can start adding our midi effects to live. First make sure we have the midi track that is mapped to Reason selected, And in live go to the midi devices and pick chord and add to the midi track. also add the scale device as well. | ||

Step 10: Now with all the bits in place select a preset for the chord and scale. |
